Welcome to Hallam Pilates

Hallam Pilates is owned and run by Liz Jowsey, a qualified and highly experienced physiotherpist. With over 10 classes in Matwork, covering a range of clients from beginner to advanced, Hallam Pilates is one of the leading centers for Pilates in Sheffield.
Focusing on the whole body, Liz specialises in posture and efficient movement to build and maintain strength and mobility using the Jems Technique in all her classes and one to one appointments.
Hallam Pilates is also available remotely on Zoom!
“Pilates on Zoom is like a private lesson in your home, it works really well and the instructions are so clear as always , excellent Liz”
“Pilates via Zoom is great fun. More importantly though, the exercises help me to keep supple, agile and happy. My joints can get very stiff and painful ….Pilates improve my range of movements and balance. I would even go as far to say that it makes me feel youthful!!” Maria
“I have been attending Liz’s Pilates classes since they started at the Hallamshire. They are fantastic- very helpful with posture, inner strength and wellbeing. But what has really come through in the last very difficult few weeks is the sense of community and friendship that is present in our group – this would not have happened without Liz’s hard work”
“A brilliant Pilates lesson, expertly matched to your own ability, in the comfort of your own home. Thanks, Liz.”

I first went to Hallam Pilates to learn Pilates on a one to one basis having had 4 major abdominal operations for cancer within 5 years. I needed to regain strength and posture after so much trauma. Learning the techniques one to one helped me to pick things up very quickly so that when I joined a class I could understand what I was aiming at.
Liz Jowsey
As owner of Hallam Physiotherapy & Pilates Sheffield, Liz is its driving force. She is constantly evolving and expanding her knowledge to bring you the very best physical therapy available.
As a fully qualified and experienced physiotherapist Liz is a specialist in neck & back care and is now fully qualified in both JEM's and Franklin Movement techniques which brings a level of mindfulness to her work.
Liz now concentrates her work to fully embody the Jems Techniques into her consultations and classes in order to teach efficient posture and movement in both life and sport.
Melanie Forsdike
Alongside Mel’s Physiotherpist NHS role she works for Hallam Pilates as a Pilates instructor. Melanie completed her matwork and class instructor Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) in 2005 and has been teaching Pilates ever since. She has completed further Pilates training over the years, most recently Pilates for osteoporosis and neurological Pilates.
Although Pilates is a safe form of exercise, there is always an element of risk, as with all physical exercise and more care needs to be taken in an online environment, as the instructor is not present.
